Chichibu Fudasho No.13 Jigen-ji Temple

  • Chichibu Fudasho No.13 Jigen-ji Temple

The current main hall of Jigenji Temple,Fudasho No13, was rebuilt in 1901 in imitation of the main hall of Fudasho No1. It enshrines Yakushi Nyorai, known as the guardian deity of the eyes.

On July 8, the "Ameyakushi Ennichi," an ema (votive tablet) with the word "me(eye)" written on it is dedicated to the temple, and "bukkaki ame (candy)" named for "ame" is sold at a street stall. Since it is also the rainy season, the festival is also known as Ame(rain)yakushi, and attracts a large number of visitors. In the Sutra Repository, there is a storehouse containing 1,630 scrolls of the Buddhist sutras, and it is said that if you turn it, you will be blessed with the merits of the sutras. A wooden statue of Jusangonsha, the founder of the Chichibu fudosho, is also enshrined here.
