Chichibu Fudasho No.9 Akechi-ji Temple

  • Chichibu Fudasho No.9 Akechi-ji Temple

Founded in 1191, this temple was named Akechi-do Hall after the Zen Master Akechi, who established the temple complex.
Before a lightning strike destroyed it in 1883, the Kannon Hall was built in the same style as Fudasho Temple No. 5. A temporary hall stood here for many years. The present hall was built in 1990.

Miracles of Kannon at This Temple
A Boy in Yokoze
Long ago, there was a boy living with his blind mother. Their family was poor, and the boy cared for his mother and gathered nuts from the woods to feed them both.
One day, an old monk appeared and said, “If you want to heal your mother, recite the Kannon sutra.”
The boy immediately took his mother to the Kannon Hall, and they prayed and recited the sutra together through the night.
At dawn, a bright star shone down on his mother, and her eyes opened.
