Chichibu Fudasho No.5 Goka-do Temple
Fudasho No. 5 Gokado is located about 1 km south of Fudasho No.4 Kinsho-ji Temple.
It is also called "Chokoji Temple" because of its small gate and gravel-paved precincts.
The hall was built by Honma Magohachi, who was associated with Chokoji Temple, to enshrine jyundeikannon.
The principal object of worship is Jyundeikannon.
Of the 100 sacred sites of Kannon in Japan, located in the western part of the country, Bando, and Chichibu, only Kami-Daigoji Temple,
the fudasho No.11 in the western part of the country, and GokadoTemple, the fudasho No.5 in Chichibu, have Jyundeikannon as their principal deity.
The name "Gokado" is said to come from the story of Magohachi, who was devoted to the study of poetry, and a traveling monk who visited Kannondō one day and discussed waka through the night, and at nearly dawn, he gained a profound understanding of waka. The sutra recitation takes place at Chokoji Temple, 250 meters away.
