Chichibu Fudasho No.20 Iwanoue-do Temple
Cross the Chichibu Bridge over the Arakawa River and walk up the steep hill along the river to reach Fudasho No. 20, Iwanouedo.
The Kannondo, said to be the oldest of the Chichibu fudasho, was built in the early Edo period (1603-1868) and is owned by the Uchida family, an old family that has been in Chichibu since the Edo period.
Inside the hall is a palace-shaped kitchen, and on the back of the door are carvings of the 33 guardian deities of the Kannon, including Nichiten (Sun Goddess), Gatten (Moon Goddess), Fujin (Wind Goddess), and Raijin (Thunder Goddess). The Uchida family's house near the Kannon Hall is the place to pay sutras.
The main deity is the SeiKannon.
