Miracles of Kannon at This Temple
A Zen Master
Long ago, a Zen master was meditating and chanting Buddhist scriptures in a cave. An old woman appeared, praying to Kannon and offering flowers and fruits. The master grew curious and asked her why she prayed and made these offerings. She spoke through tears,
“I was a farmer’s wife in this village, but jealousy and desire turned me into a wandering night spirit. Guided by the sound of the Kannon sutra you chanted, I was finally saved.”
After saying this, she disappeared. Moved by this extraordinary event, the master built a Kannon Hall at this site.
This area, Oodana, is named after the Zen master.
