History and Highlights <\/h2>\n

Chichibu Fudasho (34 sacred places of the Kannon Bodhisattva) is said to have been founded on March 18, 1234.It is thought to have been founded in the late Muromachi period (1336-1573), since the \"Chichibu Fudasho Banzuke(Chichibu fudasho ranking list)\" in 1488 is still extant. In the Edo period (1603-1867), Chichibu Fudasho became a sacred place visited by many common people in Edo (Tokyo). <\/p>\n

It is one of Japan\u2019s 100 sacred pilgrimage sites of Kannon, together with the Saikoku 33 Kannon Pilgrimage in western Japan and the Bando 33 Kannon Pilgrimage in eastern Japan. <\/p>\n

The pilgrimage route is about 100 km long, from the first temple, Shimanbuji Temple, to the 34th temple, Suizumi-ji Temple. The pilgrimage sometimes crosses valleys, mountain paths, and rice paddies, which is unique to Chichibu. We hope you will enjoy the beautiful nature and make a connection with the Kannon Bodhisattva.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
